![]() Although i have an iphone I still like the android units, but some sort of car play compatibility would be nice, and to be fair many of my complaints may have been addressed in later updates of android that I have never done:Īnyway, curious to see what other people are using, and what they like or dont like about it!!! Hopefully with some pics of it installed! Also some only offer FM and no AM, which isnt a big deal for me, but anytime my father hops in the truck, hes going to complain lol. I have been looking at these options that combine physical buttons with larger screens, i would just have to see if they would make anything else unusable like vents. So while it was helpful to see if what was behind you was clear, unless you had a hitch on at the time you had for frame of reference for how close you were getting to something. License plate backup camera wasnt a wide enough field of view to see the bumper edge in the shot. By todays standards the screen was rather small, especially with some real estate given up to the buttons. Had to trim factory dash to fit the double din size on his 2001, but would be true of any double din unit. So you either had to have a hard time hearing the other person (even when you turned the 'in-call' volume **** up), or turn up the default application volume in the programming that then made the ring tone ear piercingly loud when a call came in and almost always cause you to jump Phone option was horrible, there was only one volume setting for both the ringer and the talking volume in the setup menu. ![]() For that you still had to touch the screen and often would miss the station you were hoping it would stop on (easy fix was just save all of the active stations as presets in order, but if you went out of area, good luck, still a clunky work around) Radio "seek" wheel only scanned among saved presets, not the same as using a manual tune ****. No green backlight option only combinations of red and blue Reliable (in the 2-4 years it has been installed I have only had one or two instances where it did not turn on with the truck or restarted while driving) Physical ***** and buttons - (I like being able to make changes with feel and not have to take my eyes off the road)ĬD Player - For us old people that still use them Torque App preinstalled - (easy obd2 gauges with a separate Bluetooth OBD2 unit) ![]() I installed an android double din headunit and backup camera in my dad's 01 F250 a few years ago, mainly to take advantage of a nice screen for a backup camera and dash mounted GPS (the factory radio was starting to fail anyway) I'll kick it off with one, in hopes more will follow:īackup Camera: Generic License plate Camera I am looking to replace the stock headunit in my 06 F350, and curious on getting some ideas on what other people have used or liked along with photos, as most of the times i come across a thread the photos are no longer active, or they are units that are no longer available. Decided to post this here opposed to the audio forum section as that place sees little action, and I am really only interested in seeing setups on 99-07 interiors.
